Destination gaming: Evaluating the benefits for Victoria. A “Taking action on problem gambling” initiative

Abstract

This report outlines the Department of Justice's investigation into whether destination gaming would deliver a net community benefit for Victoria. Destination involves a reconfiguration of supply to fewer, but larger gaming venues. It has been suggested that this would reduce accessibility to gaming opportunities, which in turn would result in a reduction in the number of new cases. The investigation concluded that although it is not possible to determine the impact of destination gaming on problem gambling precisely, it is likely to be limited.
