Gambling act regulatory impact assessment

This Regulatory Impact Assessment (RIA) assesses the impact of the measures included in the Gambling Act 2005. It is supplemented by separate RIAs for sub-sectors of the gambling industry. In addition, detailed competition assessments are included for the bingo and casino sectors. The Government has three overarching objectives for the regulation of gambling: • To prevent gambling being a source of crime and disorder; • To ensure that gambling is conducted in a fair and open way, and; • To protect children and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by gambling.
