Gambling and globalization: Still a bad bet

Abstract

Discusses recent trends in the regulation of the gambling landscape across Europe in order to highlight successes and failures of gambling policy. Argues that, while policy makers may in times of economic difficulties focus on the fiscal "bottom line" of gambling regulation, a comparative analysis of the impact of legal and regulatory structures on gambling may still help determine how to maximize revenue gains while minimizing undesirable impacts.
