New forms of participation: Problem internet gambling and the role of the family

Abstract

This report is based on research findings from the project New Forms of Participation: Problem Internet Gambling and the Role of the Family.

This study, funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Responsibility in Gambling Trust (RiGT) therefore aimed:
1. To collect a new body of data about who participates in internet gambling through an
online scoping survey.

2. To examine pathways in, and out of problem internet gambling through in-depth qualitative research, focusing particularly on the role of the family in defining problem gambling, and dealing with it.
