Qualitative study into machine gamblers

Abstract

{GfK} {NOP} undertook a qualitative study of machine gamblers, carrying out interviews, observations and focus groups with a range of machine gamblers and venue managers. Explored play patterns and behaviours, use and views of gaming machine features, access to machines, and views on and use of social responsibility measures. Found that gamblers believed social restraints to be most effective in restricting play and spend, while restricted access and enforced game breaks were less so.
