Following the Gambling Commission’s consultation on collecting adult gambling prevalence data, the Commission now uses questions in telephone omnibus surveys (conducted by ICM Research) as the main measure of gambling participation. The Commission also use questions in omnibus surveys to measure public perceptions of gambling. This survey replaced the remote and all gambling survey questions that the Gambling Commission previously reported on (Survey data on gambling participation). These changes were designed to align the questions better with the British Gambling Prevalence Survey 2010, and to better distinguish between gambling activities and mode of access. Respondents are now also asked about the frequency of their gambling participation. This data is published quarterly, based on an updated sample of 4,000 interviews.
